Who is authorized to request changes to my license?
Only individuals currently listed on the license record are authorized to submit change requests.
What steps should I take if there is a change in business entity, ownership, or officers/directors/members/managers?
Contact BHGS at (916) 999-2041 for guidance on next steps if any of the following apply to your business:
- A change in business entity type (e.g., converting to a corporation, LLC, or partnership).
- A transfer of ownership (sale of a business from one individual to another).
- Updates to your officers, directors, members, or managers.
- Dissolution, termination or abandonment of a corporation, LLC or partnership.
- Formation of a new corporation/LLC that has a different Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) than the original entity.
Can I include “Inc” or “LLC” in my business name?
Only if your business is officially registered with the California Secretary of State as a corporation or limited liability company. Using terms like "Incorporated," "Inc," "Limited Liability Company," or "LLC" in your business name without proper registration is prohibited under BPC §17910.5.
I lost my license certificate; how can I get a new one?
To request a new license certificate, contact us here and include your license number and business name. No extra fee is required for this service at this time.
How do I cancel my license?
To cancel your license, complete the Request for Cancellation form and follow the instructions. Requests can take up to two weeks to process.
